First Dream

We were at dinner the other night, and a pregnant friend asked if I'd had any 'gender dreams' yet. I, honestly, hadn't ever heard of such a thing.
Basically, these are dreams where you dream about your baby, and it has a gender.

Well, last night I had one of these things. :) I had a dream that we had a boy, and that he came early... but was fine. And of course, he was the cutest thing ever. It woke me up, and I almost called Jesse. I thought better of it though, since it was 4am.

I googled this all this morning, and was only able to find out that gender dreams are accurate predictors of the sex of the baby about 50% of the time. So, from this scientific information; I've decided that there's a 50% chance I'm having a boy.

Hopefully some more interesting stuff happens, I'd love to be able to write more!!

Stay tuned for an update Monday - I have my 16week appointment.

Crochet

My mom found and gave me the one thing she says she ever crocheted - a pretty green and white baby blanket for me. I will, of course, be using it.

But, with the help of Jules and Maggie, I have also sort of learned to crochet myself! I finished a granny square today with some borrowed white yarn and hook (thanks, Jules) and now I'm super stoked to try a real blanket. So, yarn shopping - here I come!!

nursery ideas?

We're still not totally sure where we'll end up living since there are quite a few things up in the air... but wherever it is, there will be a baby room.

There's not very much variety out there when it comes to baby stuff. If you haven't had occasion to look, you wouldn't know that there are a couple standard themes, or variations thereof: blue, pink (both liberally mixed these days with brown), and animal (either Noah's ark, barnyard, or jungle.) I'm probably over-simplyfying this, but I've been to a couple places... and this is all I really see.

Although, Maggie and I were out this weekend and saw two very cute new things: stylized monkeys and Dr. Suess!! I loved the monkeys... they weren't very obvious or cartoony or cutsey. And of course they were orange and light blue; one of my favorite color combos!!! We'll see, but I like that the best so far.

What I'm really here for, though... is any ideas or other places I should be looking for ideas or bedding. I've already had a couple of great ideas: Wind In the Willows, Charlotte's Web, Where the Wild Things Are... send me some more!!

And by the way, thanks :)

I really appreciate all the good wishes and congratulations from everyone. It makes me sad to be so far away from so many people I love, but it helps to know that when I'm thinking of you, sometimes your thinking of us too.

Baby's second visit to New England

I was up here in Westfield at the end of Feb, before I knew I was preggo and now I'm back!

We're going shopping today to see if we can find me a bridesmaid dress for the wedding I'm in at the end of June. Usually, I love this stuff, but we've been struggling with the bump I'll have by then. Hopefully I'll have something by the end of today!

I also had a nice visit yesterday with Nancy, moby and Oliver. We had a nice walk, and we had an amazing veggie burger at the Counter in West Hartford. I highly recommend.

A good workout

I joined the gym last week with my mom. She has been really great about really getting on walking and getting in better shape, and so serves as even more motivation to keep in shape.
My doc said the same thing.. And that I could do wahtever, ad long as I wasn't increasing at all. So I've still been running.
But, I met with a great trainer today who gave me a great bunch of stuff she says I can keep doing all the way through, with modifications based on how I feel. Squats, lunges, even abs. I guess it makes sense, right? I better keep my core in shape for what will probably be the hardest workout I'll ever do!!!
In other news, Jesse also worked out hard this morning on his quest to get ripped in 90 days. I encourage you to ask him about it :).
